About Yinong Zhao

My very first contact with Finland dates back to the 80s, when I was - in addition to my regular job as a university teacher - running a small language school in Beijing. Our company provided interpreters to an international event, where there was also a “Finnish pavilion”. That was the first time I got to know Finns and Finland – such a lovely country!

I came to Finland in 1990, first to study in Tampere University, and then, starting from 1992, working in various fields of business both in Finland and in China. In recent years I have been running my own company. Having gained all this experience as a native Chinese in a Finnish and an international business environment, and also having the insight to Chinese institutions, I'd say I have quite naturally turned out to be an expert on Chinese culture and business.

It might also be worth mentioning that I have trained Chinese kungfu ever since I was very young. I even ran my own kungfu-school in Tampere, Finland at the beginning of the 90s, teaching taiji quan and Shaolin-kungfu. Through this activity I have gotten to know lots of good friends all over the world – including my Finnish wife. This specific area of culture and the values within it make people from all walks of life come together.

In addition to other work and business activities, I also provide my expertise to FutuVision Media and Radio86. Actually that makes me feel a bit the same when I was teaching kungfu and taiji – my genuine dream is to introduce the life, culture and thoughts of 1,3 billion Chinese people to the rest of the world. I just love my work!
