Ten injured in three aftershocks

Five people were injured in a 5.6-magnitude aftershock that jolted southwest China's Shaanxi and Sichuan provinces early Thursday morning, CRI reports.

The injuries were all reported in Shaanxi province's Ningqiang County.

The aftershock hit the same region affected by the massive 8.0-magnitude earthquake last May, CRI says.

The number of possible injuries in Qingchuan, Sichuan province, however, was not immediately known, CRI says.

Later on Thursday, CRI reported of another two aftershocks having jolted the area.

The latest one measuring 6.0 on the Ritcher Scale hit the juncture of Ningqiang county, and Qingchuan county at 3:05 pm. At the same time, the number of injured people was updated to over ten.

The death toll from the May 12 earthquake stood at 69,197 as of Monday noon. Over 18,000 people remain missing.
