Visitors coming to Beijing for the Olympics will get the chance to experience authentic Chinese home life for themselves.
The city has recruited over 1,000 households to provide rooms for some of the tourists coming in August. According to Reuters, officials inspect the ventilation, lighting, sanitary conditions, fire safety, bathroom facilities, location, transportation, even family pets.
The hosts should also dress appropriately, have good manners and basic Olympic knowledge. They should also be willing to act as a tour guide.
The news agency said that the home stay program will supplement the 220,000 beds offered in hotels around the city. Officials fear that there will not be enough rooms to meet demand especially close to the sports venues.
