March is Rabbit month. (Image: Radio86)28th February 2010, 21:01 GMT
‘Insects Awakening’ is on the 6th March, which marks the start of the solar month of the Rabbit. The spring thunder can startle the dormant insects as the season marches on towards the spring equinox, which occurs on the 20th March in Europe, but falls on the 21st March in Asia. The spring equinox is the mid-point of the spring season according to the Chinese solar calendar, and it is when the wood energy of spring is especially vibrant, especially in a Tiger year.
This Rabbit month is an Earth Rabbit month, so there is the stabilising influence of the earth energies to balance all the upwards and onwards growing energy of wood. Whilst the urge to forge ahead is in the air this month, there will also be the earth energy to help you keep both feet on the ground.
The second lunar month of the Chinese calendar starts with the new moon on the 16th March and you can enjoy the glory of the full moon on the 30th. According to Chinese folklore there is a rabbit that lives on the moon. Poets in ancient China referred to the moon as ‘Jade Rabbit’ or ‘Gold Rabbit’. If you happen to be out under the full moon on the 30th, look up at the moon and see if you can spot the rabbit on the moon.
Bright moonlight has romantic connotations and Rabbit month can bring romance luck for certain of the animal signs. Tigers, Horses and Dogs can watch the peach blossoms under the moonlight this month, a metaphor for loving relationships to flourish. What will the graceful and persuasive energies of the Rabbit bring for you this month, check your animal sign and find out.
