2nd June 2008, 11:07 GMT

Japan will deliver 400 tents as additional relief aid to China's quake-hit southwestern areas on a chartered flight Monday, Japan's top government spokesman said.

The flight is to take off from Kansai International Airport later Monday, heading for Chengdu, capital of China's quake-hit Sichuan Province, Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura told a regular press conference.

Japan has sent relief and medical teams to China to help with rescue operations in the worst-hit areas since the 8.0 magnitude earthquake occurred on May 12.
