Tibet will be reopened to domestic tourists, including those in Hong Kong and Taiwan, as earlier scheduled, on May 1.
The Guangzhou-based Xinkuaibao newspaper reported today that local travel agencies have been allowed to arrange tours again.
According to CRI Nordic, the Tibet Tourism Bureau announced earlier this week that domestic tourists from mainland China will be allowed into the region this Wednesday, while visitors from Taiwan and Hong Kong will be welcomed from Labor Day.
Tibet received its first group of domestic visitors on Thursday evening and is expecting another three groups this weekend and next Tuesday.
Foreign visitors are still not allowed into the region.
