Tea and dancing to battle obesity in children

RELATED STORIES

Chinese researchers who spent five years studying obesity, with the focus on children, have found a compound in tea that can help fight obesity.

According to the China Daily, the polyphenol compound found can help obese people lose weight.

Guo Xirong, director of the Nanjing Institute for Pediatrics, recommends Oolong tea, the newspaper said.

The news comes at a time when obesity in China, especially among young people, is becoming a problem.

Zhou Ji, China's Education Minister, wants schools to ensure that students have one hour of physical exercise every day to help counter the obesity epidemic. The Ministry of Education has also announced that seven sets of dance steps had been designed to "suit the physical and psychological characteristics of students at different ages," China Daily reports.

Senior high school students will also learn the waltz and perform four-to five-minute dance sets during their breaks or free time.
