Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, is one of China's top tourist destinations. The city of tea and silk, Hangzhou has for many centuries been one of the centers of Chinese culture. It is also known as the city of romance because of the love stories associated with the West Lake. However, the city receives only about 2.4 million foreign visitors yearly, prompting the local government to launch programs to attract more tourists from abroad.
Taishun in Zhejiang, China, is home to as many as 900 corridor bridges known as fengyuqiao or “wind and rain bridges.” The beauty of the corridor bridges has touched one man in particular. Mr. Zhou Wangong is already 81 but he has dedicated himself to telling people about these manmade wonders.
Foreigners say "ni hao"
China's rise as an economic power has also increased interest in Chinese language learning. There is a growing number of foreigners who come to China especially to learn to speak Chinese. But how difficult is it to really learn Chinese? We spoke with Professor Ding Jianmin, dean of the International College of Zhejiang University, to learn more.

Calligraphy is considered one of the most sublime forms of Chinese art. It is also perhaps the most revealing, as each stroke of the brush is thought to reflect the artist's personality. Mr. Wang Dongling has practised calligraphy for more than fifty years. He knows that for calligraphy to be successful, it must bridge the gap between the artist and the viewer.
The hills around the West Lake are covered with shrub after shrub of an amazing plant – camellia sinensis, better known as tea. The tea grown in the Xihu or West Lake district is perhaps the most renowned of China's Famous Teas.

Every year, over half a million people from all over China and the rest of the world come to the Hangzhou Botanical Garden, where a seven-hectare bamboo garden is located. The Bamboo Garden has over 100 of the 400 bamboo species that grow in China. Zeng Xinyu, senior engineer and researcher at the Hangzhou Botanical Garden, gave a special tour of the Bamboo Garden and told us about this amazing plant.
