Electric bicycles are gaining popularity in China. Known as e-bikes, the bicycles are becoming the vehicle of choice for environmentally-aware Chinese. Zhejiang's Luyuan Group was one of the first companies in China to specialize in the manufacture of electric bicycles. It is now the largest and most respected manufacturer of electric bicycles in China.
Luyuan was founded in 1996 by Ni Jie, who now serves as the company's Chairman of the Board. Ni Jie's business philosophy and thoughts about the industry continue to exert a powerful influence in the entire e-bike industry.

Very interesting story about electric bicycles in Zhejiang.
I started to think - could it be good idea to import electronic bikes here in Europe.
After all I think it is quite different in China - in Europe people want to have physical exercise when bicycling. Thus I think electric bikes wouldn't be such a big hit here, but they could be helpful for disabled people.
