Guo, a 24-year-old from Shaanxi Province, was only ranked second to Russian Natalia Paderina going into the finals.
But Guo's shooting hand proved steadier as she slowly erased, then increased, the lead between her and her closest rival, before finishing with 492.3 points.
Paderina brought home the silver with 489.1 points. Bronze went to Nino Salukadzve from Georgia, who scored 487.4 points.
In other news, China's swimming team brought home its first ever Olympic medal, CRI Nordic reported. Zhang Lin finished second in the men's 400m freestyle competitions held at the Water Cube today. The event was won by US swimmer Larsen Jensen.
